This is to introduce myself and let you know I will be sending out weekly updates on news and information concerning the horse industry. I commenced work as Chief Executive Officer for the Queensland Horse Council Inc. (QHC) on Monday 11th August 2008. This position is being funded by the DPI&F for the first 6 months and is testament to the government in their effort to help the horse industry consolidate and grow not only after the EI incursion but also in regards to other important issues such as forest trails, compulsory horse registration and racing stables in suburban areas to name just a few. The scope and aims of the QHC have reached a stage where it is becoming too consuming and taxing for volunteers alone. Whilst volunteers will always play a vital role in the Council, some of the issues that arose from EI and currently the Hendra virus have demonstrated the need for the horse industry to unite under a higher level of professionalism. I am looking forward to seeing members at the AGM on Tuesday 26th August. If there is anything you wish to discuss please don’t hesitate to call or send an email. At this stage I will be using the following dpi email: This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it however I hope to change soon to the This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it email as soon as possible. |
