Just a short update to inform you of the sad news that the veterinarian from Redlands Vet Clinic, Ben Cunneen, died yesterday. There has been a lot of questions and conjecture within the horse industry about the people and horses involved however at this point we can only stress the importance of patient confidentiality. There is a vast amount of emotion involved with what has occurred and I can only urge people to be vigilant about their horses’ exposure to bats and base your decisions on what facts we have available on Hendra virus (see links below). The QHC are currently contributing to projects aimed at informing horse owners about the risks involved with Hendra Virus and forming further research groups dealing with Hendra virus.
