The 2020 Five Domains Model of Welfare for Horses
This FREE infographic highlights the types of conditions typically associated with good physical function that also suit the horse’s nature (their telos), as well as those that pose a risk.
Good welfare can be achieved when the conditions allow horses to avoid or resolve any negative experiences as they arise, and they can benefit from a wide range of positive experiences.
Welfare is compromised if the horse is unable to resolve any negative experiences in a timely manner. When negative experiences are not resolved, they can become intense or chronic, and your horse will not be able to benefit from positive experiences, even if they are available.
